Can a naturopath see children?
Yes. Naturopathic Doctors in Ontario see infants, children and teens, with a parent or guardian present, and work alongside your paediatrician or family doctor. Vaccination, diagnosis and medication stay with your physician.
What do you help children with?
Digestive problems, eczema and skin, sleep, picky eating and nutrition, frequent infections, iron and energy, and focus and mood support alongside school and medical care. Anything acute or serious goes to your physician or emergency care first.
Is it safe? What about supplements for kids?
Care is gentle and dose-appropriate, and supplements are used only where there's a specific reason, at children's doses, and reviewed with you. Most of the work is food, sleep and routine.
Do you test children?
Only when the result would change the plan, and usually through your family doctor first where OHIP covers it. Ferritin, vitamin D and celiac screening are the common ones.
How much does a naturopath cost in Ontario?
At Fitra Health the first call is free, the first 60-minute appointment is $249, and follow-ups are $99 for 30 minutes or $199 for 60. Lab work is passed through at cost. Most extended health plans cover naturopathic visits, and we bill more than 30 insurers directly.
Is naturopathic medicine covered by OHIP or insurance?
OHIP doesn't cover naturopathic visits. Most workplace and private extended health plans do, up to an annual maximum. We bill through TELUS eClaims where your insurer is on the network and issue an insurance-ready receipt where it isn't. Visits are HST-exempt and may qualify for the medical expense tax credit.
Do I need a referral?
No. You book directly. Bring any results you already have and your Naturopathic Doctor starts from there rather than repeating work.
